Cholesterol is the fatty substance present in the human body that performs vital function of protecting the body. If a person is obese or overweight, the primary aim should be to lose weight and take up activities like exercising that will speed up the process of getting into shape.
Intake of water should be regulated so that the kidneys’ excretory activities remain sound. Vitamin C rich fruits should be incorporated in the diet as it helps to increase the good cholesterol. Spinach, citrus fruits, tomatoes and potatoes are rich in Vitamin C.
Orange juice works wonders as it helps to clean the blood, aids the process of digestion, reduces cholesterol and controls the action of the heart. Green vegetables and fresh fruits are also essential as they release a fiber known as pectin that helps to reduce the cholesterol levels.

Garlic is well known for its medicinal benefits and very helpful in reducing the cholesterol levels of the body. It can be taken in the form of pills or can be used in cooking. A daily consumption of 6-7 cloves helps a lot. Among fruits, grapes are very effective.
One can drink grape juice or have a bowl of grapes everyday to reduce cholesterol. Intake of kidney beans, soya beans, lima beans and navy beans contain pectin which is known to reduce cholesterol. Daily intake of carrots has been reported to reduce significant percentage of cholesterol.
Foods which are rich in fat should be avoided at all costs. One should cut down the intake of junk and fried stuff too. Coriander seeds and sunflower seeds are beneficial too. In addition to all the above remedies, it is very important to incorporate a daily physical activity in your routine.
