Home remedies for halitosis are the best treatment for mouth odor. Believe it or not, medications can even cause oral malodor. - Chewing mint, cardamom or raw guava helps in treating halitosis. Mint and cardamom can be used as mouth freshener as well.
- Avocado is another effective remedy for mouth odor. It is helpful in cleansing the intestinal putrefaction and decomposition.
- Include foods rich in vitamin E and C in your diet. And reduce the intake of foods rich in sulphur.
- Make a drink of honey and lemon and drink it twice a day. This will also help you in reducing bad breath.
- Oregano oil also helps in curing bad breath. Add 2-3 drops of it in your drinking water.
- Rinsing or gargling your mouth with baking soda is also another effective method of solving the issue of halitosis.
Prevention of Halitosis
- Brush your teeth twice or thrice a day and floss once everyday. Make sure to brush along the gum line and the surface of your teeth. Also remember to scrape your tongue with your brush or a plastic tongue cleaner each time.
- Stimulate your saliva by adding citrus fruits and chewing fibrous vegetables.
- Exclude meat from your diet and drink atleast 8 glasses of water to help keep your mouth moist.
- Avoid skipping meals. A healthy diet is a must.
- Seek help from your dentist to clean your mouth thoroughly. Visit your dentist twice a year and to clean your mouth thoroughly.
